Battlefield 3 executive producer Patrick Bach will take over as temporary CEO of DICE for the next four months. Current CEO Karl Magnus Troedsson will be away on paternity leave during the period, which, according to Bach, is in accordance with a DICE policy that encourages new parents to spend time with their children.
“I think it is a bit unique at a big company, and certainly in the gaming industry, but we want the people working at DICE to see their job as a long time investment,” Bach told MCV.
Bach notes that operations will largely remain the same, with Troedsson’s duties distributed among multiple staff members. “We will be trying to spread out the tasks of the CEO on a number of people. I will of course be responsible for the results but we will split the daily tasks.”
Bach is currently overseeing the development of Battlefield 3′s upcoming Close Quarters DLC. For more on what to expect from the pack, check out our hands-on impressions.
